Why choose Golden Teacher mushrooms
“Golden Teacher” mushrooms are among the strongest philosophical magic mushrooms. Their distinctive golden cap with speckles, veil and hollow stem that thickens toward the base make the Golden Teacher a joy to watch growing and a topic of conversation. The exact place of discovery of this variety is not known. However, we do know that the aurumescens variety (Latin for “golden leisure”) suddenly appeared in the 1980s and was also known as Gold Caps. The cap grows to a diameter of 5 to 8 cm, but harvest them before the cap separates from the stem. That is when they are at their strongest. They were prominently featured in the hit series Silicon Valley, where one character goes on a vision quest under the influence of these mushrooms to find good ideas.
A trip on Golden Teacher mushrooms is no joke. This specific variety is used worldwide to gain new insights into yourself or the universe. They are not the most recreational mushrooms on the market, but the most commonly used for spiritual purposes. It is not uncommon for aurumescens to provide you with a sense of enlightenment and connection with nature.
Strength and effects
Golden Teacher belongs to the strongest mushrooms of the Psilocybe cubensis species that you can grow yourself in a complete grow kit. Expect intense visuals and spiritual experiences. Take into account a short phase of nausea after ingestion, which disappears on its own. If you are looking for a milder experience, start with a lower dose.

Growing mushrooms in 6 steps
- Clean your hands and the outside of the grow kit.
- Pierce holes in the top layer with a sterilized fork and let the kit soak in water.
- Place the kit in the grow bag with a little water at the bottom.
- Close the bag with the paperclips and store it at 20–24 °C.
- After 2 to 3 weeks, the first mushrooms will appear. Provide fresh air and sufficient humidity.
- Harvest the mushrooms when the veil under the cap breaks by taking the mushroom at the base of the stem between thumb and forefinger and gently twisting.
With the right care you will get several harvests from one set. The first flush usually provides the highest yield. Sometimes the mushrooms have a strange shape. This is normal. They are perfectly suitable for consumption and may even be stronger.
Expected total yield (multiple flushes)
- Small grow kit (280 cc): about 120 g fresh mushrooms
- Medium grow kit (1200 cc): about 400 g fresh mushrooms
- Large grow kit (2100 cc): about 700 g fresh mushrooms
The yield depends on your cultivation conditions such as humidity and temperature. 3 to 7 flushes may be possible. Our advice is to continue cultivating with the set until it no longer produces mushrooms or becomes contaminated. Follow our manual (scan the QR code on the packaging).
How do mushrooms work?
Golden Teacher mushrooms contain psilocybin and psilocin, substances that cause intense visuals, altered perception and creative insights. Within 30 to 60 minutes you will notice the first effects. The peak of the experience is between 2 and 4 hours, while the full trip lasts 6 to 8 hours. Perfect for those seeking a profound psychedelic experience with a mushroom grow kit.
Safety and legality
The sale of ready-to-use mushrooms is not permitted, but grow kits are completely legal. Dosage
For dried mushrooms, a normal dose ranges from 1 to 2.5 g. Golden Teacher is strong, so always start carefully. For beginners a half dose is recommended. A so-called heroic dose, where it feels as if you are connected to the universe and no longer know who you are, is 5 g of dried mushrooms. Never do this the first time. Only for very experienced trippers.

Storage
Store the grow kit in the refrigerator at 3 to 6 °C. This way it will keep for 3 to 6 months. You should dry your harvest immediately. How to do this is explained again in the instructions accessible by scanning the QR code on the packaging. Dried mushrooms keep for 6–12 months in a cool, dark place. Always check their condition before use. When they are no longer good they turn grey and/or green after several months. Blue-tinged mushrooms, however, are normal. Do not freeze mushrooms and do not heat them. This will destroy the active compounds.
