Functions of a Digital Scale
All digital scales available at Dutch-Headshop essentially have one important function: weighing your total cannabis or hash harvest. However, some scales can also be used for other purposes. You can use a digital kitchen scale to weigh herbs or food, for example. A digital milligram scale can be used for liquids or microdosing. Other models are suitable for weighing powders or jewellery.
Accurately weighing your harvest or other items is very important because you can never determine the actual weight of something with the naked eye. Being 0.1 grams off once may not be a major problem. After 20 weighings, however, these differences can cost you a considerable amount of money. Buying a cannabis scale is a small investment that can save you a lot of money in the long term. It also saves you a great deal of effort.
Precision Scale with Different Options
Want to buy a digital scale? Carefully check the specifications and different functions of the scale. Start by looking at its accuracy and maximum capacity. Precision scales can differ considerably in accuracy. Some gram scales do not display any decimal places at all, making them suitable for weighing larger quantities. There are also highly accurate scales that can weigh to the nearest milligram, or 0.001 grams. You should also consider the maximum capacity. A larger model, such as a kitchen scale, may be able to weigh up to 3 kilograms. A small pocket scale may have a maximum capacity of only 100 grams.
A precision scale may look like a simple device, but appearances can be deceiving. In addition to capacity and accuracy, a small scale can contain many different functions. Most models allow you to weigh in different units. This means you can weigh not only in grams, but also in ounces (oz), troy ounces (ozt), pennyweight (dwt), carats (ct) or grains.
In addition to these measuring units, there are many useful functions that can make weighing much easier. Some examples include:
- Automatic calibration: a scale may occasionally stop measuring correctly. This can happen for various reasons. There is no need to panic. Many scales can be recalibrated. Press the calibration button to reset the scale, after which it will be ready to use again.
- Tare weighing: this allows you to weigh only the contents without including the weight of the bowl, tray or packaging placed on the scale. For example, place a ziplock bag on the scale. Press the “tare” button and then fill the bag until the scale displays 1 gram. This saves a great deal of effort.
- Parts counting: a good precision scale or kitchen scale, such as the My Weigh I-500, can help you count the number of items placed on the scale. Want to know how many paper clips are in a bag? 100 or 350? Your digital scale can help you count them.
Cannabis Scale

The most important thing is a reliable and accurate device that lasts a long time and is easy to use. You will find plenty of suitable options in our range. When looking for a good cannabis scale, always check the accuracy of the device. Do you only weigh large quantities? A gram scale is probably the right choice. Do you use the scale for smaller quantities, such as approximately one gram per bag? We recommend choosing a scale with two decimal places, indicated by an accuracy of 0.01 grams.
It is also useful if your cannabis scale has a reasonably large weighing platform. Compact scales do not always have this. In that case, a tare function can be very useful.
